When riding a bike, there’s always a chance of encountering some road hazards. But an ostrich?
That’s exactly what happened to a group of cyclists on Friday during the Cape Argus Tour in South Africa, and it all was caught on video by Oleksiy Mishchenko. It also resulted in one of the strangest cycling videos ever seen.
In the video description, Mishchenko said the road along the ocean was quiet. Well, until a roadrunner showed up.
“Suddenly, I spotted a white ostrich on my left, then this beast jumped on the road from the right and started chasing my friends!” Mishchenko wrote.
He said it was scary at first and thought he was going to fall off his bike from laughing so hard as the ostrich kept up with the cyclists, who were going approximately 30 mph. It turned out to be a hilarious minute of hot pursuit by an ostrich.
“Luckily the creature decided to leave us alone, as we were running out of road,” he said.
It’s a good thing the ostrich left them alone, because according to the National Wildlife Federation, an ostrich can keep up a 30 mph pace for up to 10 miles.
