Something stinks in Moscow, and it’s a Vladimir Putin-inspired fragrance.
Not only is there a new 2016 calendar starring Putin, but there’s a new fragrance hitting the street called “Leaders Number One” from Belarussian-born perfumer Vladislav Rekunov.
It comes in a black bottle that features a profile of Putin, while the box proclaims it’s “inspired by Vladimir Putin.”
Rekunov, who spent a year in France developing it, described the fragrance as having “not an aggressive scent, but rather attractive.” However, when it was tested on the streets, Russians were less than receptive.
Many passed on getting spritzed with the fragrance that has hints of lemon, black currant and fir cones, while two men told Reuters it “spelled like cheap perfume.”
The “cheap perfume” went on sale Thursday for 6,500 roubles (approximately $91) and has a limited edition of 2,000 bottles at Moscow’s GUM department store.
According to Russian newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda, a female version also is in the works, and orders have already come in from Germany and China.
