Just when you thought Johnny Manziel might actually be taking steps to get his football career back on track, reality kicks in.

This weekend, the free-agent quarterback told TMZ that he had moved in with fellow Texas A&M product and Super Bowl MVP Von Miller.

“I’m living out here with my guy, Von Miller. Everybody knows Von Miller. Super Bowl MVP, Von Miller, my brother. I’m living with him right now,” Manziel said Saturday night. “We’re getting our lives together, bro.”

But the thought of Miller and Manziel staying up late and reminiscing about their college days is nothing more than fantasy. Monday, Miller refuted Manziel’s claim, while throwing in a “Stepbrothers” reference to show that he’s still got love for the former Browns quarterback.

According to an ESPN source, Manziel is actually living with Browns receiver Josh Gordon in an apartment off Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. Gordon applied for reinstatement into the league in January after missing the entire 2015 season for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. In other words, he’s not exactly the kind of guy Manziel’s agent wants him associating with.

Roommates or not, Miller is still backing Manziel, even saying last week that he wishes the Broncos would sign the troubled quarterback.

“If I had to make my decision on it, he would already be on the Broncos,” Miller said Friday, via Pro Football Talk. “But we’ve got guys in the front office that make those decisions, and they put us in championships with those decisions.
