Have you seen the latest videos of LeBron James’ kids balling out? Kobe Bryant has, and he’s impressed with what he sees. But he has just one critique: They pass too much.
Following Cleveland’s win over the Lakers Thursday – the final LeBron versus Kobe showdown – Bryant reportedly passed James’ mother Gloria outside the Cavs locker room and shared his piece of advice.
Via ESPN’s J.A. Adande:
He saw LeBron’s mother, Gloria, in the hallway outside the locker rooms and told her he’d been watching her grandsons’ blossoming basketball talents. He had only one critique:
“They pass too much,” Kobe told her. “Send them my way, and I’ll fix that.”
This all makes perfect sense considering the two players. After all, Bryant has always been labeled as a ball hog, and James, the critics say, has always passed too much.
A recent video of James’ oldest son, LeBron James Jr., shows that Kobe might be on to something.
Check out the kid’s precision passing game (James is No. 0 in the camo).
That type of vision is something the younger James clearly acquired from dad, who seems to be content with his son’s approach.
“He plays just like I did,” James said last month, via Fox Sports. “He has great awareness, and he’d rather pass first and set guys up. Most kids nowadays just want to score.”
Bryant is a different story. The Lakers legend ranks third in NBA history in field goals attempted with an outshot shot of catching Karl Malone for No. 2.
Fittingly, Bryant had a team-high 26 points on 11-of-16 shooting with just two assists in Los Angeles’ 120-108 loss Thursday.
