Have you heard of dry shampoo? Dry shampoo isn’t a new product, but it has recently become quite popular since beauty experts and hair stylists have been recommending washing your hair less to keep it feeling and looking healthy. (Remember my “No Shampooing” story?)

Many experts recommend that you only wash your hair twice a week, but with so much time in between shampoos, what do you do when you hair starts looking oily?! That’s where dry shampoo comes in!

Dry shampoo works by absorbing the oils in between washes, leaving you with fresher looking, feeling and smelling hair without the use of water. Typically, it is sold as a spray-on powder and you can find it just about anywhere with prices ranging from $3 at the drugstore to $50 if you want to splurge.

All you do is spray the product at the roots of your hair and ‘voila’ – cleaner and fresher hair in no time! The most important thing to remember when using a dry shampoo is that you want to be sure to either comb it out or rub it in – you don’t want a powdery white residue to be left behind, darlings!

Do you need one?

Dry shampoo is a staple for traveling, if your hair gets oily between washes, or if you want to freshen up mid-day. Because it also adds volume back to your hair, it’s helpful for keeping those up-dos for those of us with fine hair. Darlings, I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite brands below.
